Canadian golf professional, founder of Backcountry Golf Company. When I realized I would have to put an about me part on this I had a hard time wording “Really likes having a good time” professionally. I’ve been lucky to travel the world and be a part of some of the greatest golf courses this game have to offer to us and all I want to do is give opportunity to those who have the same passion for the game I do to see and experience these places. I became a golf professional thinking I wanted to help people get better at golf and I’ve realized my real goal as been to get people to love it as much as I do.
MATTHEW ROSTEK
I am the Co-Founder of Backcountry Golf Co., a company built on my international experience in the golf industry and my passion for creating meaningful connections through the game. With a Bachelor of Science in Recreation & Bachelor of Management, along with a Business Diploma, I bring both a strong educational foundation and a global perspective to the golf industry.
Backcountry Golf Co. was founded to modernize the caddie experience, create unique golf opportunities, and build community through the sport. My professional journey has been shaped by hands-on work at some of the world’s most prestigious golf destinations. As a caddie, I’ve provided elite-level service and course expertise at Cabot Links & Cabot Cliffs (Nova Scotia, Canada) and The Hills Golf Club (Otago, New Zealand). These experiences taught me the importance of hospitality, adaptability, and attention to detail, qualities that now guide my work as a business founder in the industry.
From growing up playing and working at local golf courses to co-founding Backcountry Golf Co., I’ve developed a unique perspective on the culture of golf worldwide. I am committed to shaping the future of golf experiences, blending customer experience, innovation, and community engagement to elevate the game and create lasting value.
